Nature of request
Copy of a writ of Edward II to the sheriffs of London commanding them to arrest without delay the goods and merchandise of the men and merchants of the power of the counts of Hainault, Holland and Zeeland to the sum of 200 marks, 7s 8d and keep them until he receives further orders.1)
Nature of endorsement
By virtue of the order of arrest many goods and merchandises of German merchants were arrested, but these were restored to them by many writs to the mayor and sheriff, and there are no more goods and merchandises in the bailiwick.2) Response of John de Oxon and Adam de Sarum, sheriffs.
