Nature of request
[This petition is damaged] William Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, states that he and his predecessors have been seized of an annual rent from certain tenements in London, of which Alice, who was the wife of William Wyndesore, and others were tenants, [but that] since these tenements have been in the King's hands, [he has not been paid this rent]. People mentioned

Note
Tentatively dated to c. 1400, as the petition appears to date from after the death of Alice Perrers. CPR 1399-1401 p.546 mentions some tenements in the parish of All Hallows the Less, which may well be those in this petition, describing them as having belonged to Alice de Wyndesore, John Weston and Raymond Bers, and as having come into the King's hand through the forfeiture of John, Earl of Huntingdon, who held them of Alice's grant. The document, dated 21 September 1401, grants them to John, Earl of Somerset.
