Nature of request
The petitioners state that they were falsely imprisoned by William de Chelefend, under-sheriff of Kent, who then used deceit to keep them there, before releasing them on bail, on payment of redemption at his pleasure and a fine to Walter de Menyl, Maud de Menyl and Peronelle their daughter. They request grace and a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
The parties are to be adjourned before the King's council in London three weeks after Michaelmas; and the Sheriff is to produce the bodies of the complainants, the Under-sheriff and all others whom this business concerns.
