The commons ask that a statute made in 26 Edward III and confirmed by a statute of 13 Richard II, concerning weights and measures, might be maintained and enforced; and also, to avoid the wrongs listed in a schedule attached to this petition, that there might be a common balance and weights in every city, borough or town, and that the justices of the peace, mayors, bailiffs and stewards of franchises might have power to punish trespassers against these weights.
