Nature of request
The Abbot and convent of Warden state that by the charter of Richard I and the confirmation of the present King they are quit of all aids and taxes pertaining to the King, but that various bailiffs of cities and boroughs where they have tenements and rents are distraining them for lot and scot with them on common tallages. They purchased a writ to obtain a respite until parliament, and now request the King's grace on this matter.
Nature of endorsement
The Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer are to be ordered by writ of Chancery that, when they have examined their charter, they are to do justice.
