Nature of request
William de Wyndesore states that Thomas, Bishop of Durham has sued him and his wife by a writ of detenu, concerning 4000 marks which he lent to Edward III, although he made remission of 1000 marks to have an assignment for the other 3000, and although he was paid 1000 of these remaining 3000 marks - as can be seen by the record of the Receipt and several letters from the Treasurer. William asks that the record and letters might be brought before the King and lords and examined, and that when good faith and loyalty demand might then be done.
