Description

John Wolde, clerk, and John Reche.
Name(s)
Wolde; Reche, John; John
Addressees
Lords of parliament.
Occupation
clerk
Nature of request
John Wolde, clerk, and John Reche state that they were seised of various tenements in London until the King's second year, when they were expelled by John Marchall, Agnes Crosby and Thomas Bradwas, by colour of the King's letters patent granted to them. The petitioners have long sued to have a scire facias on this matter, and have also sued to various parliaments, and their petitions, notably one to the last parliament, were endorsed that the Chancellor was to do justice on this matter. They have been able to have no expedition of their case, which has been delayed for four and a half years. They ask the lords to ask the King to order the Chancellor to grant them the necessary writs, while parliament is in session, so that they might have justice with no more delay.
Nature of endorsement
The Chancellor is to be spoken to, so that he does his office in this matter, according to the form of the endorsement of a petition made in the parliament held at Westminster in the fifth year of the present King.
Places mentioned

Westminster.
People mentioned

Note
The petition presented to the parliament held in 5 Henry IV (January 1404) was presumably the most recent previous petition, whose endorsement is quoted in full here (SC 8/117/5823). This petition was presumably presented to the next parliament, that of October 1404.CPR 1399-1401 p.514 is dated 4 May 1401 and p.525 is dated 11 July 1401.
