- William de Wyndesore states that Edward III appointed him Governor of Ireland for a year, in the forty-seventh year of his reign, and that at the end of that year he asked him to stay on with his retinue, for the safe-keeping of that land, to be paid as before. He asks that the Treasurer, Barons and Chamberlains of the Exchequer might be ordered to account with him for the wages of his men and other reasonable expenses during this period.
