Description
Petitioners
Commons living near Wychwood forest.
Addressees
King and council of parliament.
Nature of request
The petitioners state that in the time of the King's grandfather a writ was sent to Thomas de Langele, formerly Keeper of Wychwood forest, to perambulate the forest: which he did to his own advantage, bringing forty vills and hamlets within the bounds of the forest, and imposing various grievances on them. Roger Elmrugge did the same in his time. They request writs to the present Keeper, to perambulate the forest properly, in accordance with the boundaries that are on record in the Treasury, so that they might not be so treated in future.
Nature of endorsement
This bill is to be sent into Chancery, and there the supplicants are to show the record of the perambulation made in the time of the present King's grandfather, if there is one: and according to the record justice is to be done to them on the advice of the great council. And if there is no such record, then a perambulation is to be made in due manner by the most respected people of the country, according to the form of the ordinance made on this in the time of the King's grandfather, if it please the King.
