- The widows of London state that they are being included in the new imposition in the city, contrary to ancient usage and the specific grant of the King and his progenitors, which exempts them from all taxes. They ask the King to order the Mayor and Sheriffs of London in the present parliament to allow them to be exempt from this tax and from all others granted without the authority of parliament, according to the grants of kings and their ancient liberty.
