Nature of request
The Abbot of Warden makes two requests:1) He states that Henry III had granted him 20 marks annually, for his damages at the siege of Bedford, until he was provided with £10 of land, and that the present King had made satisfaction for this sum through setting it off against debts owed by the Abbot, until Michaelmas in his sixth year. He asks that he might be given the £10 of land, or payment of the 20 marks with arrears.2) He requests the King's grace on the matter of an amercement of 40s, demanded from him from the last Eyre of Solomon de Roucestre and his companions at Hertford, for not appearing on the first day, because the Abbot had died at that time, and there was no Abbot for the whole of the Eyre.
