Nature of request
Edmund de Wodestok, to whom the King granted the manor of Lifton, together with the hundred and appurtenances, states that, before it came into the King's hand, the lords of that hundred used to receive a fine of 28s. annually, together with the amercements of the men of the hundred once a year, at the county court at Exeter, but that now the Sheriff in his tourn takes this fine and the amercements. He requests a remedy.
