Nature of request
The people of Windsor state that Geoffrey de Pycheford has told the King that certain lands outside the town of Windsor belong to the castle, when in fact they belong to the town: and on this they are prepared to put themselves on the country, on life and limb, and on the rolls of the Exchequer. They ask that they might have the farm of the town in its entirety, as it has always been held, as they now pay a farm of £30, whereas before it was only £25.

Note
Dated on the guard to '? c. 1273', with reference to CFR 1272-1307 p.12, which is dated 12 October 1273. This may not be directly relevant, but the petition clearly dates from Geoffrey's period of office as constable.
