Nature of request
Adam, Bishop of Worcester, formerly Bishop of Hereford, makes two requests:1) He states that he is being distrained by the Sheriff of Worcestershire for the second year of the biennial tenth granted by the clergy to the pope, that is, for the King's father's sixteenth year, as in that year the temporalities of the diocese of Hereford were in the King's hand, and remained there for a further two years. He asks to be exonerated from this.2) He states that he is being distrained by the Sheriff of Worcestershire for the tenth granted by the clergy to the King in his first year, that is, for the tenth for his temporalities in the archdeaconry of Worcester, which was granted while he was overseas on the King's business. He asks to be exonerated from this.

This petition would seem to date from c. 1328, shortly after Adam Orleton's translation to Worcester. It cannot in any case be later than 1333, when he was translated to Winchester.
