SC 8/146/7280
Date
[1382-1385]
Description
Petitioners
William de Wyndesore (Windsor).
Name(s)
de Wyndesore (Windsor), William
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
William de Wyndesore makes two requests:1) He states that by an agreement between himself and the King, he would find 100 men at arms for the King's last expedition to France and Brittany, in exchange for certain manors, lands, tenements and reversions, which belonged to his wife and were seized into the King's hand because of a judgment against her. He performed his part of the agreement, but, because his charter does not fully specify which manors, lands, tenements and reversions he is to have, he has been able to have nothing. On 14 December last the Duke of Lancaster clarified the matter before the lords of parliament, and William now requests a letter under the secret seal to the Keeper of the Privy Seal, to send a warrant to the Chancellor to renew this charter.2) He states that he has also been prevented from having possession by certain letters patent granting some of these lands to various people, and made before the drawing up of the charter: it had been agreed that he would have them, and satisfaction be given to those who hold them at present, but nothing has been done. He asks that satisfaction might be given to them, and their letters patent repealed, and that he might have satisfaction for the issues in the meantime.

Note
SC 8/146/7274 appears to date from 1381-1382. The only contemporary parliament that was in session on 14 December was that of November 1384, although the parliament of November 1381 was prorogued on 13 December, so it is just possible that some business could have been conducted on the fourteenth. This petition then appears to date from 1382 or (more probably) 1385.
