Nature of request
[This petition is damaged.]John Wolselee and Maud his wife make two complaints against Roger Fulthorp the elder:1) They state that when Maud was a widow she granted all her lands and tenements, rents and service in Newcastle upon Tyne to Hugh [de Hetham], his heirs and assigns, with provision for re-entry if the rent was in arrears. After Hugh's death, Roger de Fulthorp entered, and has not paid the rent, but because of his power in the country and the King's court, John and Maud cannot re-enter.2) They also state that they have an assize pending concerning certain tenements in Newcastle, and have also brought a writ of formedon against certain people, but Roger has made champerty with the tenants and others, so that they cannot have execution.They request justice in the present parliament.
