Description
Petitioners
William de Wyndesore (Windsor), knight.
Name(s)
de Wyndesore (Windsor), William
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
William de Wyndesore makes two requests:1) He states that by an agreement between himself and the King, he would find 100 men at arms for the King's last expedition to France and Brittany, in exchange for certain manors, lands, tenements and reversions, set out in a charter on this. He performed his part of the agreement, but, because of certain letters patent granting some of these lands to various people, and made before the drawing up of the charter, he has not been able to have all these lands - although a promise was made that he would have them, and satisfaction be given to those who hold them at present. He asks that he might have possession of these lands, contained in a schedule attached to this petition, with the issues since the time of the making of the charter.2) He states that he has been unable to have possession of certain tenements in Oxford contained in the charter, because they were recovered against the King by a judgment in King's Bench, long before the charter was made, and asks that he might have the manor of Wendover instead, which his wife had of the gift of Edward III.
Nature of endorsement
Before the King himself and his council.

Note
This petition is edited in Rot. Parl. vol. III p.130a (no. 14) among petitions ascribed to 5 Richard II (22 June 1381-21 June 1382). This would agree with the mention of the late Archbishop of Canterbury - Simon Sudbury died in June 1381.
