Description

Addressees
King in parliament.
Nature of request
The poor people of Wiggenhall, Ilsington, Tilney, Clenchwarton, Watlington, Runcton Holme, Setchey [and West Winch], in the marshland in Norfolk, which has suffered greatly from floods and inundations of salt water, due to an increase in the width of the Wiggenhall River, state that the people of King's Lynn have presented a malicious bill to the present parliament stating that if the river is made narrower it will greatly harm them and the surrounding counties: which bill is clearly unreasonable. They ask that the justices in those parts might be able to carry out their office in this case according to the law and usages of the marshland, and return the river to its previous width without any supersedeas being granted against them.
