John Wallyngford, Prior of St Frideswide, Oxford, states that he has been duly elected according to the custom of the convent, with Edward III's permission and the confirmation of the bishop, and that he has been in possession for three years, but that one John Doddesford has come with bills from the court of Rome and expelled him. He asks the King and council to send for John Doddesford to show his bills and other evidence for his estate, and to do justice.

Note
CPR 1377-81 p.302 is dated 27 July 1378 and p.304 is dated 15 July 1378. This petition would seem likely to date from an earlier stage of proceedings, and, as the petitioner states that he was appointed by Edward III and has been in possession for three years, cannot be later than 1380.
