Description
Petitioners
Agnes de Valence.
Name(s)
de Valence, Agnes
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Agnes de Valence states that on three occasions John Fitz Thomas seized her lands and goods in Ireland with force and arms, although she was under the King's protection at the time. She has sued on this matter and has managed to recover the lands, but because of the partiality of John Wogan, Justiciar of Ireland, she has never been able to recover her goods, or have damages. The King has most recently sent a writ to the Justiciar to do justice in this matter, or, if he could not, to adjourn the parties before the King in his next parliament in England; but he has ignored this. She requests grace and a remedy, and that, in consideration of the Justiciar's attitude, justice might be done to her before the King in England.
Nature of endorsement
Since the Justiciar, when taxed with this, cannot excuse his negligence and default in failing to provide justice to her in this matter, therefore to judgment on behalf of the King with the Justiciar etc. And the Justiciar is ordered as before etc. by writ of Chancery etc., that on pain of everything that he can forfeit to the King he is to carry out etc. and he is to provide information on what etc. at the next parliament.
Places mentioned

People mentioned
