Nature of request
Vigorosus Vigerii of Arès, citizen of Bordeaux, on behalf of himself and Benefacta his wife, daughter of the late Bernard Chicati, citizen of Bordeaux, and Benefacta herself, state that, when she was paying a visit to her paternal home after her father's death, Peter de Solis, citizen of Bordeaux, seized and carried her off by force, and with her goods and chattels. When this was reported to the Mayor of Bordeaux, he took her into his hand, but has not returned her to her husband. The couple ask for letters to the Seneschal of Gascony and the Mayor of Bordeaux to allow Benefacta to return to her husband, and to return her to possession of her paternal home and her possessions there, and keep her safe in possession of them; and to provide such a punishment for Peter and his accomplices that it may be an example in future.
Nature of endorsement
The Mayor of Bordeaux is to be ordered that she is to remain in the keeping of Stephen de Issente, where she is at present, until the Seneschal comes; and he will afterwards ordain what is to be done.
