Nature of request
William, son of William de Venables, states that it has been ordained in the present parliament that proclamation should be made in the next county court in Chester after the feast of the Epiphany last, that he, and others called malefactors, should appear at the next county court and find security for the peace for John de Kyngesley. He states that he, the others, and John de Kyngesley have been placed under the protection and ordinance of the Earl of Stafford, both with regard to the security and to all other points of contention between them, but that the order for the proclamation was issued notwithstanding this. He asks that, if he finds security for the peace for John de Kyngesley, this ordinance and proclamation might be annulled.
