Nature of request
John, son of Ralph de Trihampton, who is under age, states that although he was of the retinue of John de Moubray, he tried to distance himself from him as much as possible, and when he fully understood his purpose, absented himself from his company. He also states that he would have surrendered to the King's will long ago, if the Constable of Tickhill, wanting his lands, had not put spies everywhere to kill him before he could do so, and had not threatened his friends, so that they did not dare to pursue his business. He requests the King's grace on these matters, and that the charter of his lands and tenements granted to the Constable of Tickhill might not be sealed before this is inquired into.
