Joan, widow of John Torthorald, states that the King granted her husband 100s annually from the farm of Exning, by the hands of the Sheriffs of Suffolk, and that her husband was killed in the war in Scotland, and all his ancestors in the wars of the late King, so that she is left burdened with children and without support.
