Nature of request
The Abbot and convent of Thornton state that most of their lands, tenements, rents and possessions, spiritual and temporal, adjoining the sea, the River Humber and the River Ouse, have been ruined by silt from these sources, and ask that they might henceforth be exempted from payment of tenths on the ruined portion.
