Nature of request
John Pyel states that more than twelve years ago, Stephen de Cosyngton enfeoffed him and Peter de Lacy, for themselves and John's heirs, with the manors of Acrise and Mount, and with other lands in Kent, and that William, Stephen's son and heir, made a release of these manors to them. After Peter's death, John, gravely ill, enfeoffed Adam Franceys, William Halden, and John Swetbon with the lands, and they were in peaceful possession for a long time, until lately, when William de Cosyngton has entered the manors forcibly and taken the goods found there. John requests a remedy, and that William should find security for the goods and damages done to John, if it should be found that this was against the law.
