Description
Petitioners
Eloise de Toucestre, widow of William de Toucestre.
Name(s)
de Toucestre, Eloise
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Eloise, widow of William de Toucestre, states that she appealed Henry Cut, Henry le Cok, Robert atte More, Nicholas de Berkyng, Robert atte Diche, John, servant of Robert atte Diche, and Richard Turky of the death of her husband, but that through their conspiracy and bribes they procured a false inquest, and that because of her fear of the inquest passing against her she did not sue, and was imprisoned until she had made satisfaction to the King for her non-suit. She asks that she might sue against them on the King's behalf before Geoffrey Lescrop, and challenge the inquest. She also requests a remedy against William le Rous, Stephen de Bekwell, William de Burgh, Bailiff of Southwark and Ralph le Bruer (or Ralph, brewer of Stephen de Bekwell), who maintained Henry Cut and the others.
Nature of endorsement
This petition is to be delivered to Geoffrey Lescrop.
Places mentioned
