de Saint Mark (St Mark), John

Nature of request
John de Saint Mark makes three complaints against Robert de Veer of Sudborough:1) He states that, accroaching to himself royal power in time of peace, he rides out with 300 men at arms in the county of Northamptonshire, seeking John to kill him, against the peace of the King, so that John, his wife and children no longer dare to remain in that country or to cultivate their land. He requests a remedy.2) He states that on the eve and the day of St Barnabas last, Robert sought John in the wood of his father, Nicholas de Saint Mark, which is within the forest, and seized Nicholas' woodwards and offered them 40s. to hand John over, and beat and ill-treated John de Brakenbergh, woodward, John's brother-in-law, who raised the hue and cry, against the King's peace.3) He states that Robert was with the King's enemies at Birtonbrig, and afterwards fled and lived by robbery in the woods for fear of being taken, and no-one dared to indict him for this, for fear of his threats; and if no remedy is ordained for this, others will be emboldened to do likewise.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to the trespasses committed against the parties, they are to sue writs at common law.And with regard to the fact that he rides out with force and arms in disturbance of the peace and adherence, writs are to be sent to Walter de Frisken and Robert de Malberthorp to inquire and return.
