[The bottom part of this petition is damaged. The description of the second petition is incomplete.]The King's tenants of the manor of Scalby, of the King's ancient demesne, make two requests:1) They state that when the manor was in the hands of Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, Richard de Skelton, his bailiff, expelled them from ten carucates of land, part of the land charged with their rent, and from their common pasture in the east part of Lagdon wood, belonging to their free tenement. They request [a remedy].2) They state that [a wood called] Foulwodde, part of their free tenement, was adjudged waste in the last [Eyre of the Forest] . . . and that they have been prevented from using it by Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, and his ministers. They request a remedy.

[On face] [With regard to the first] petition: certain faithful people are to be appointed to inquire into the truth of the contents of the petition, and when the inquisition has been returned [rest of endorsement missing].With regard to the second [petition] [several words missing due to damage to ms.] of the Eyre in Chancery: when it has been examined, justice is to be done to him.[Missing due to damage to ms] de Bergh sues.[None on dorse]
