Nature of request
Joan, daughter of Gilbert Sperling of London, states that her writ of fee tail concerning a bequest of various tenements in London in her grandfather's testament, which she first brought in the thirtieth year of the late King, cannot be expedited because certain people, who held some of these tenements, had prevented the enrolment of this testament in the records of the Guildhall; so that she is disinherited. She has the original testament, proved and endorsed, and asks that this might remain in force.
Nature of endorsement
Coram magno consilio. Herlaston.The Mayor and Sheriffs of London are to be ordered that if they can establish from the endorsement of the testament or in some other legitimate way that that testament was proved at the due time, then, notwithstanding the fact that the enrolment in the Guildhall cannot be found, they are to do justice to her in the pleas which touch her [missing due to damage to ms.] of the aforesaid city according to the form [missing due to damage to ms.].

CPR 1321-4 p.249 is dated 15 July 1322, and CPR 1321-4 p.311 is dated 3 April 1323. This petition would perhaps seem to come from an earlier stage in the proceedings.
