Nature of request
The Prior of Stoke by Clare states that he and his predecessors have been seised of the church of Barton Mills since the time of Henry II, but that the King has presented a Chancery clerk, who is suing before Roger de Brabazun and his companions to remove the Prior's advowson, and to expel the Prior's presentee. He asks the King to release and quitclaim his right, by payment of a fine, and to confirm the deeds of his ancestors.
Nature of endorsement
[There is a largely illegible note concerning the value of the church on the face.][On dorse] It is granted for a fine of 20 marks that he is to have the advowson back by the King's charter; and the fine is to be enrolled in Chancery.

CPR 1301-7 p.386 is dated 20 October 1305, and is clearly the result of this petition. The offending Chancery clerk was possibly Gilbert de Eboraco, presented on 25 November 1304 (CPR 1301-7 p.290).
