Description

Nature of request
Geoffrey de Say states that although Adam de Bavent held lands in various counties of William de Say, William de la Marche, when he was Treasurer of England, had an entry put into Domesday in the Exchequer that Adam and his ancestors held some of these lands of the King in chief: and thus he took from William de Say the wardship and marriage of the present Roger de Bavent. Geoffrey asks the King to order the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to have the truth inquired into, and justice done to him.
Nature of endorsement
He is to have a writ of Chancery addressed to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer that, when they have heard the contents of this petition, and the process and record which have taken place on this at the Exchequer, and when they have considered the things that are to be considered on the King's behalf, they are to do what is to be done.
