Description
Petitioners
John de Styvecle.
Name(s)
de Styvecle, John
Addressees
Commons of parliament.
Nature of request
John de Styvecle states that he and others purchased from King Richard certain lands and tenements for a term of years, which had been forfeited by Robert Belknap; and that he was then expelled from most of them by Thomas, Duke of Gloucester, who had the lands at farm, so that he received little profit from them. Then, in the late King's twenty-first year, Robert was restored to the lands. He has since sued, so far unsuccessfully, to recover the sum he paid for the lands. He asks the commons to ask the King and lords that he and the others who purchased these lands might be able to have and enjoy them, or otherwise that they might have their money.

[None]
People mentioned
Richard [II], King of England
Robert Bealknap (Belknap)
