Reference
SC 8/142/7053
Date
[? c. 1437]
Description
Petitioners
Servants and members of the household of the King in his youth.
Addressees
Commons of parliament.
Nature of request
The servants and members of the household of the King in his youth, who have received offices, fees and annuities from him by his letters patent, ask that these letters patent might be confirmed by authority of the present parliament to as many of them as seems expedient to the King, for them to hold these offices, fees and annuities for term of life.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] Let it be delivered to the lords.By the Chancellor, 22 March.[None on dorse]
People mentioned
[John Stafford, Bishop of Bath and Wells], Chancellor of England.
Note
This petition would seem to date from shortly after Henry VI's coming of age on 12 November 1437, but the date of 22 March on the petition would seem to fit best with the parliament held immediately before that, that of January 1437, which sat until 27 March.
