Nature of request
The Dean and chapter of Salisbury state that in his will John Waltham, Bishop of Salisbury, left them his body and his best vestment, but that by council and procurement of William Lescrop, Earl of Wiltshire, he was buried at Westminster, and the vestment given to the Abbot of Westminster. As it would be too slow and difficult to sue against the Abbot, who is exempt, they ask that Thomas Arundel, Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of all England and overseer of the testament, might be ordered to have the Abbot come before him, and when he has examined the testament, to put into execution what justice and reason demand, according to the last will of the testator.
