Nature of request
Sabadiu de Saut states that he mainprised William Arnald Daugar and Gaillard de Til, burgesses of Sault-de-Navailles, hostages in Bayonne, to have their bodies before Beraud de Sestars and Peter-Arnald de Bik, King's Lieutenants in Gascony, last Easter, on pain of 100 marks. They were given permission to go to Sault-de-Navailles, and while they were there, the Lord of Navailles entered the town: so that he could not have William and Gaillard before Beraud and Peter as he promised. They had him arrested: he has now paid 40 marks of the 100 mark penalty, and found security to pay the remaining 60 marks at mid-August. He is ready to pay this sum to the King in England at that time, and asks that he might have the King's letter to his Lieutenants to acquit them of this, and to ask them to help him recover the 100 marks and his damages from the people of Sault-de-Navailles.
