Description
Petitioners
William (Guilhem) de Souve (Soe), esquire, of Gascony.
Name(s)
de Souve (Soe), William (Guilhem)
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
William de Souve, esquire, of Gascony, states that in his youth he was compelled by necessity to sell some land he had to Adam de Norff', Treasurer and Castellan of Bordeaux, and that the King's lieutenants of the Bordeaux have had it in their hands every since, while the Duchy of Guyenne has been in the King's hand. He asks, in consideration of the service he has done the King, and still hopes to do him, that he might have the land back, for the same sum that he paid for it.
Nature of endorsement
The King wills that this grace be done him, for the good service that he has done him, in allowance for the debt. And therefore he is to sue in the King's Chancery.

Guyenne, [France].
People mentioned
Adam de Norff' (Norfolk), Treasurer and Castellan of Bordeaux.
Note
Dated on the guard to after 1280, with reference to Adam de Norfolk, Treasurer and Castellan of Bordeaux. From the way the petitioner refers to selling the land to Adam in his youth, the petition would seem to date from some time after Norfolk's period of office.
