Nature of request
[This petition is damaged and incomplete.]Edmund Spayne, son of John Spayne, states that although he was enfeoffed with certain lands and tenements by his father, he was disseised of them by Thomas Pounde, chaplain, and Geoffrey Rawlynson, who by means of forged documents obtained a decision from the assizes in Yorkshire on the Wednesday in Easter week, 10 Henry IV [1409], that they had been wrongly disseised of the tenements by John Inglond and the petitioner; and this was done with the aid of John Inglond. He asks the King that the council might have authority, by the present parliament, to examine John Inglond and others on this matter, and to return the lands, and the issues taken on them in the meantime, to the petitioner.
