Nature of request
Cecily, daughter of the late Henry de Stanford, states that an inquisition was procured against her in Berkshire at the suit of Walter de Lurty, suing against her by writ of trespass, and that she was condemned to pay a fine. A writ was sent to the Sheriff to levy them, but he returned that she had no goods in his jurisdiction, so another writ was sent to arrest her, but he returned that she could not be found. Other writs were sent, until she was outlawed. She asks the King for his grace and pardon for the outlawry, and for a letter of his peace.

Note
William de Bereford was appointed Justice of Common Pleas in 1292 and again in 1294, and Chief Justice of Common Pleas in 1309. He died in 1326. From the hand, this petition would seem to come from the 1290s or 1300s.
