Description
Petitioners
Hugh Ridel (Riddell).
Name(s)
Ridel (Riddell), Hugh
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Ridel states that his lands of Wittering were taken into the hand of the king because Ridel resided with Balliol at the commencement of the war, and at the request of Frisel, the lands were given deceitfully to Geoffrey, Ridel's son for service in his war, and to hold the same at will, and Geoffrey has sold the land and engaged, and given, and destroyed the woods and gardens against the conditions of the will and done no service. Ridel requests that the king and council will perform the ordinances granted of the peace made between the two realms to the petitioner as he has done to others since he has nothing to live on if the king will not do him speedy right as he is not able to enjoy his lands in Scotland because of the enemy.
