Note (Additional information about the record)
- A prohibition on the export of coal and other goods was issued on 26 November 1362, and presumably the petition dates from shortly after that date. However, the reference to the ordinance being made in the king's 36th year, rather than 'November last' might suggest a delay of a year or more. Fraser notes that an exemption was granted to the Hanse on 24 February 1363, but this does not seem to be connected with Newcastle.
