John de Ulveston, sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk, requests allowance against his charge as sheriff, stating that he cannot collect the usual sum due to the large parts of the two counties granted as franchises to the Queen, the Duke of Lancaster and others by the king and his progenitors, and the loss of income due to the constablery of Norwich castle being granted to Cray.

John de Ulveston was sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk between November 1382 and December 1383, and since he describes himself as the present sheriff, the petition was probably presented to one of the two parliaments held during his term of office, both in 1383.
