Nature of request
The people of Newcastle state that, because the Bishop of Norwich's tenants in King's Lynn now claim to be free from tolls in the port of Newcastle, they have arrested goods belonging to Philip and others worth £280 in retaliation for tolls collected at Newcastle amounting to £22, and refuse to release them until they receive sureties worth £400. They therefore request the release of the goods, and the annulment of the bond.

Note
Dated by Fraser to 1382, with reference to the consequent orders to the sheriff of Norfolk and the Mayor and bailiffs of Lynn. The long preamble is almost identical to that of SC 8/129/6422, a petition of 1384 against the Bishop of Durham.
