Note
Dated on the guard to? c.13891, with reference to Northampton's eventual pardon. However, Northampton, mayor of London in 1381-3, was arrested by his successor, Nicholas Brembre, on 7 February 1384, and tried and convicted before the King and Council at Reading in August 1384. He received a partial pardon in 1388 and a full pardon in December 1391. However, since he refers in the petition to the mayor who convicted him (Brembre) as 'the present mayor', presumably the petition was presented to one of the parliaments held between his conviction at Reading (which he mentions) in August 1384 and the end of Brembre's mayoralty in November 1386.
