Thomas de Neubyggyng requests to be released from prison, stating that he was overseas in the company of Mortimer, and attached various people of that company, bringing them to the King. He asks the King to summon before him the indictments held by his son, to discover that he has done great good for the realm, and states that if he remains in prison the adherents of Mortimer will increase in strength unless he is able to warn the King.

Note
For details of Neubyggyng's case see Parl. Writs, Vol.2/2, Appendix, pp.244-9. The pleas against Neubyggyng appear on the plea roll for Hilary term 1324, and presumably this petition, as with another from one of his accusers (SC 8/90/4482), was presented to the next parliament, held in February 1324. For two petitions seemingly from two of the people Neubyggyng claims to have attached, see SC 8/128/6396-7.
