Nature of request
The people of Morgannwg, that is, of Miskin and Glynrhondda, make a number of requests.1) They seek remedy regarding lands taken by the Earl of Gloucester, which they have been unable to recover.2) [Cancelled petition relating to imprisonment of deserters from the Scottish wars - repeated under 8]3) They request the release of hostages taken during the re-building of Llantrisant Castle.4) They request the restoration of the heirs of those killed during the war against the Earl, as agreed with the Countess, for a fine of 500 marks.5) They request respite or cancellation of arrears of 60 marks of the 500 marks mentioned above.6) The people of Tir Iarll request respite of 100 marks of the £100 fine made with the Countess for them to retain their ancient laws and customs.7) They request that the heirs of those killed in the war against the Earl may have their lands in peace, according to the fine.8) The people of Miskin ask that deserters from the war in Scotland be delivered under mainprise. They state that they made fine with the Countess for this, but they were to remain in prison until peace was established and Llantrisant castle completed, and were still there when the King took the lands.1)

The Castle is not yet complete, and they will not be delivered until then.4) Coram Rege. The King will give his will when he pleases. View the form of the agreement and let it be done to them accordingly.5) Coram Rege. Let them have respite.6) The King will answer when he pleases. The King wishes that they have respite.7) Coram Rege. The King will answer when he pleases. The King wishes that the form be seen, and it will be done according to that form.8) Coram Rege. If this is so, the King wishes the fine with the Countess to stand, but they may not yet be released from prison.
