[c. 1380]
Description
Petitioners
Piers de la Mote, knight.
Name(s)
Mote, Piers
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Piers de la Mote states that he requested confirmation of a bill sent to him regarding grants made to him by the Lieutenant in Guyenne, Lord Neville. The Lords to whom he showed the bill said that they had no knowledge of such a knight. He therefore requests that the King summon before him the Earl of Huntingdon, the Abbot of Bournet, Plassey and others of Guyenne, to question them about his behaviour and loyalty.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned
St Andrew (St-Andre-de-Cubzac), [Guyenne, France]
Guyenne, [France]
Bournet, [Guyenne, France].
People mentioned
[John Neville], Lord Neville
[Guichard d'Angle], Earl of Huntingdon
Abbot of Bournet
Monote de Plassey.
Note
Dated on the repair to c. 1380, with reference to SC 8/128/6256, to which it was once attached. Unfortunately the petition is damaged and stained, and parts are difficult to read. However, it would seem to be subsequent to that petition, and suggests that Piers had trouble taking possession of the rights granted.
