Nature of request
Scolastica de Meuys requests that she be granted the bailiwick of Scalby Hay until John de Meuys is of full age. She states that the bailiwick is appurtenant to the manor of Levisham, which she holds during the minority of the heir by lease from Thomas de Levisham, to whom the manor was granted by the king during the minority. This bailiwick was seized by Thomas of Lancaster during the minority, but is now in the king's hands.

Clearly dates to shortly after the execution and forfeiture of Thomas of Lancaster in 1324. However, the petition also bears a strong resemblance to other petitions in this file which appear to date to c.1324.
