Nature of request
Richard de Messyng states that he loaned £200 to John de Goldynton to go with the King to the siege of Berwick in his twelfth year (1318-19), for which Goldynton gave Richard his lands in Terling and Little Baddow by covenant until the debt be paid. He had possession of these lands until they were taken into the king's hands by Dode, along with his goods which were there, even though he had never suffered forfeiture. He requests that the lands be restored to him as before, and that his goods be restored.
