- The Prior of Merton requests the repayment of £500 loaned to the King, as he himself owes the money to the Pope.
- Nature of endorsement
- Coram Rege.He should come to the Exchequer before the Treasurer and Barons, and show the king's letters which he has. And he is to be allowed all that he owes to the king in that debt, and concerning the rest it is to be treated with him of another form so that the king be discharged.

Note (Additional information about the record)
- A confirmation of the assignments for the repayment of this £500, issued on 1 March 1303, states that the Prior granted the loan on 25 April 1286, and the charter of assignment was issued on 4 October 1302. Clearly the petition dated from between the two, but presumably shortly before the assignment was granted in 1302. The tax is presumably that originally levied in 1274.
